Originally known as the Grand Union Hotel, the building was built in 1876. Later it was used as a boys military school and a restaurant. After a fire, the hotel was rebuilt. Today the museum has been named a California historical landmark.
There are several things to see at the museum. It contains items from the Victorian era and even items from the Chumash Indian tribe. Visitors can learn about the history of the area and take a nature trail. Guests can also visit a working blacksmith shop.
